What is Shepherd's Watch?

​

Shepherd's Watch is a special membership that allows Glory House to provide love, fellowship, and spiritual covering to people who are living in a temporary location. This ministry allows individuals such as college students, military personnel, or those on temporary work assignments to be connected to a local body of believers without transferring their permanent church membership.

Through Shepherd's Watch, a person can enjoy the blessings of belonging to a church family—worshiping together, serving in ministry, receiving encouragement, and being prayed for—while still keeping their permanent membership at their home church.

A Personal Note from Pastor Marquis

 

At the start of my freshman year at NCCU, my dad drove me to a few churches in Durham and introduced me to the pastors. His intent was for me to connect with one of them so I could receive pastoral coverage while I was away from home. Unfortunately, I did not connect with any of them. Instead, I missed church a lot. I did go from time to time, but I truly drifted from the things of God demonstrating my lack of authentic relationship with Jesus. It would be years before I fully surrendered my life to the Lord.

 

I joined the Army Reserves when I was in college. During my 22 years in the military, I saw the impact of Army life on peoples’ spiritual development. Transitioning from post to post makes it difficult to connect with a local family of believers where one can serve and grow spiritually.

 

The experiences above have helped me realize the importance of providing a supportive, authentic kingdom experience for Christians in periods of transition. Whether you are a college student, Soldier, or temporary worker, our Shepherd’s Watch Membership is designed to support you during your temporary stay in the Charlotte area. At Glory House, you will experience the love of Jesus in a genuine community of Christians who are serious about bringing glory to God.
